About Me
I must've first watched the movie JAWS when I was 1 or 2 years old. Watching it with my Dad during Shark Week became a loose tradition throughout my childhood. So when I found out it was the double bass that made the "shark sound", I was in the 4th-grade and knew I would pick that for my first instrument.
My dedication to the bass in the orchestra led to my joining the school jazz band in the 8th-grade. At this point I also began studying music privately after school. These opportunities allowed me to participate in a variety of ensembles and advance my studies far further than I could have imagined.
The highlight of these early musical experiences was being selected as the bass player for the 2017 OMEA All-State Jazz Ensemble.
Education
My musical journey includes both a bachelor's and master's degree in Jazz Performance from Bowling Green State University, where I honed my skills in theory, composition, and arranging.
As a Presidential Scholar, I balanced the commitments of a performing degree with rigorous academic discipline.
Teaching Experience
As a Teaching Assistant at BGSU, I taught Jazz Piano Fundamentals and Jazz Composition in addition to maintaining an active studio for private bass instruction.
With a diverse background in teaching including private lessons, jazz workshops, and classroom instruction, I've cultivated a comprehensive teaching approach.
Live-Performance
My experience as a performing musician has exposed me to a wide spectrum of musical styles including: Classical, Jazz, Latin, Afro-Cuban, Hip-Hop, R&B, Americana, and many other popular genres.
I've shared the stage with the likes of Todd Rundgrin, "Blue" Lou Marini, Allison Miller, Frank Kimbrough, Jaleel Shaw, Ryan Keberle, Zakk Jones, Olivia van Goor, Jake Smith and many others!
